Environment

  • .*rc - for non-login * shell
  • .*profile - for login * shell, uses the rc settings

Recommmnded settings

PATH=$HOME/bin:$PATH
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$HOME/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH

Utilities

  • mc (midnight commander) - a file manager with a built-in text editor. To copy text, hold the shift button.
